Thinking About Shooting Film?
A simple, practical way for brands to use real 8/ 16 mm film for social content.
Most social feeds are starting to feel the same.
Polished, optimised, increasingly synthetic.
Even good content disappears because everything is competing at the same visual volume.
Film breaks that pattern.
It slows the scroll, introduces texture and restraint, and feels human in a way digital content often doesn’t.
What this is — and how it works
This is a lightweight film service designed specifically for social content.
I shoot short, mood-driven clips on real 8 / 16 mm motion-picture film, intended for Instagram, TikTok, web and campaign use. It’s not about replacing digital content — it’s about introducing something different when feeds start to feel stale.
Film changes the pace of a shoot. There’s no playback and no constant reviewing. Once a moment is captured, you move forward. The day flows, people relax, and behaviour stays natural.
The approach is intentionally simple:
Small crew
Natural light, real locations
Clear concepts, discovered organically
Where this works best
Best suited to:
Brand and lifestyle moments
Product and campaign accents
Content that needs to feel premium without feeling like an ad
Not designed for:
Next-day delivery
High-volume content pipelines
Talking-head video
About me
I’m Elliott Deem — a Sydney-based cinematographer working across fashion, music and commercial projects.
I use film as a practical creative tool, not a nostalgic one. The aim is simple: calm shoots, clear intent, and content that stands apart.
