Thea Goes To Town

DIRECTED BY GEORGIA TEMPLE

A sharp and tender reimagining inspired by celebrated Australian author Thea Astley. The film follows a suburban writer in her forties who ventures into the city for a literary prize and a fleeting escape from her domestic life. Shot in Brisbane, Thea Goes to Town examines ambition, desire, and the quiet rebellion of middle age.

Developed and funded through Screen Queensland’s RIDE Shorts Program, the project premiered at the Brisbane International Film Festival 2021, showcasing new Queensland voices in contemporary Australian cinema.
